Nils van DARDEL (1888-1943) Jean Börlin,... - Lot 62 - Oger - Blanchet
Nils van DARDEL (1888-1943) Jean Börlin, ca.1920 Colour lithograph, Imp. Rasmussen, Copenhagen 83 x 60 cm Covered, very good condition. Nils von Dardel, "painter of elegant life", "Swedish dandy", son of an aristocrat, settled around 1910 in Paris where he joined the colony of Swedish artists gathered around Matisse. He befriends Rolph de Maré, son of a rich industrialist and patron of the arts, founder of Ballets Suédois. Jean Börlin is a star of this troupe. It is possible that the poster we are presenting may have been published for the show "Maison des Fous" (1920) for which Nils von Dardel designed the sets.
